An unusual day at the New Jerusalem Church

On August 6, a special event took place in one of Kharkiv’s religious communities: the presentation of Greg Pruett’s book Extraordinary Hearing, hosted by Ivan Slobodian and Dmitry Baurda. It would seem nothing unusual, but this time everything was different!

🧡This is a Roma, Russian-speaking church, as is often the case in eastern Ukraine. But the Roma were not just interested in the book, they accepted it as a real textbook and even read it in Ukrainian, which is very rare for this ethnic group, which usually reads very little.

🩶Right at the beginning of our acquaintance, they asked for more copies — and that was extremely pleasant! Because when there is a passion for God, it changes entire communities.

🧡That day, we spent time at the table as one friendly family, reading “Extraordinary Hearing.” Everyone loved it!

🩶This time, we watched a film about Jesus in the Servite language, had a discussion, and answered questions.

We also distributed books for Roma in the Servite language:

– The Gospel of John

– The Book of Genesis

– The Books of Ruth and Jonah

🧡Church members are already planning their next meetings: they will watch a film about Jesus, discuss what they have seen, and read the book together again. This is a new, warm format of ministry that everyone has come to love.

Seeing how God’s love and Word unite people of different cultures and languages is a real miracle! 💒

Important meetings for our team

🧡On August 3, Roman Diachuk met with Dmytro Baurda, a new employee of the NGO “PBU.”

🩶Their goal was to visit Edmund Rudnytskyi, who was formerly a member of our organization’s Board of Trustees.

🧡In addition, it was a wonderful opportunity to participate in the ministry of the Love of Christ Church in Mykolaiv and encourage people to participate in missionary work.

🩶It is important for us that churches pray, spread the Gospel, and support our ministries. We would like more people to learn about our Savior, so we encourage young ministers to join international missions.

🧡We discussed cooperation among various associations, as Edmund has the opportunity to communicate with many organizations.

🩶The meeting was useful and constructive and pointed us in a direction that we will continue to follow when visiting churches in southern Ukraine.

🧡Thank you all for your prayers, help, wishes, and cooperation. We will be glad to welcome new ministers who love God and want to spread His Word.

Сourse “Kairos”

🧡From May 5 to 10, in the village of Poroshkovo, Zakarpattia region, at the base of the Evangelical Baptist Church, a training course called “Kairos” was held for students of the School of Evangelists. The teachers were Roman Diachuk and Stanislav Cherniayev.

🤍This course explored the importance of preaching the Gospel to other cultures. It examined the biblical, strategic, cultural, and historical aspects of mission and encouraged church members to become involved in missionary work in various ways.

🧡The village of Poroshkovo is unique because it is home to Ukrainians, Vlachs, and Roma. Students had the opportunity to communicate with villagers and preach to them. Their task was also to identify the cultural characteristics of these peoples and analyze the differences.

🤍Eight students completed the course, and it was the last session before their graduation. Each student received a copy of the book “Is the Great Commission Still Great?” as a gift from the NGO “PBU.”

🧡We thank God and everyone who helped in organizing this training.

A book that changes your perspective on mission

New! A book that changes your perspective on mission!

🧡The Bible Translators of Ukraine NGO presents Steve Richardson’s book “Is the Great Commission Still Great?” in Ukrainian — a relevant, honest, and extremely profound work on the essence of missionary work in the modern world.

🧡The author — the son of missionaries and leader of an international missionary organization — candidly debunks common myths about mission:

🤍that Western missionaries are outdated;

🤍that they are only for “special” people;

🤍that missionaries are no longer needed…and others

🧡 It also shows why Jesus’ Great Commission remains relevant and vital to the church today.

🧡This book is not just informative, but transformational. It inspires, opens eyes, and returns us to the biblical truth about every Christian’s participation in God’s plan for the nations.

🧡Suitable for:

– church leaders;

– missionaries and volunteers;

– anyone who wants to understand the essence of the Christian calling more deeply;

Prayer retreat for brothers

🧡Prayer retreat for brothers — a time of unity, inspiration, and spiritual growth

🤍Last week, brothers from Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and Rivne regions gathered together for a special prayer retreat. Presbyters, ministry leaders, and prayer warriors prayed together for Ukraine, for the spiritual awakening of our people, and for peace and tranquility in people’s hearts.

🧡Reflections on the essence of prayer were a special blessing: faith in prayer, the power of corporate prayer, praise, thanksgiving, and intercession.

🤍Brother Ivan Slobodian shared testimonies about ministry among the Roma, the printing of new Gospels, and the importance of evangelistic projects.

🧡Each participant received a copy of the book “About the Prayer” by Ole Halesby, a profound and practical guide to personal prayer life.

🤍This retreat was a true source of spiritual encouragement and unity.

🧡Let us pray, and God will act!
