📌 Cross-Cultural Experience in Practice: How Students from the School of Evangelists at Kremenchuk Evangelical Seminary Studied the Ethnic Groups of Transcarpathia

In the village of Poroshkovo, at the Evangelical Baptist Church, an intensive field session of the School of Evangelists at Kremenchuk Evangelical Seminary has come to a close! Seven students immersed themselves in an intensive study of the “Kairos” missionary course.

The course’s lead instructor was Roman Diachuk, director of the NGO “Bible Translators of Ukraine.” Alongside him, program director Stanislav Cherniaev and group mentors Dmytro and Iryna Dryga guided the students’ learning.

But studying at the ShUB isn’t just about theory, so the students also engaged in meaningful cross-cultural practice: 

🔹 They spent time and ministered among the Vlach community in Poroshkovo. 

🔹 They visited Roma settlements in the village of Turia Pasika. 

🔹 They participated in worship services at churches of various denominations.

The result of this work was a unique field study. The students conducted a comparative analysis of the Vlach and Roma communities, identifying key differences between these two ethnic groups, their worldviews, and cultures, in order to more effectively share the Gospel in a cross-cultural setting.

A special trip took place to a Roma camp in Nadvirna

💫On June 20, a special trip took place to a Roma camp in Nadvirna with the participation of our partners from the PBT offices in the U.S. and Poland. The trip was organized by the NGO “PBU” with the support of Pastor Andrij Ivasyk of the Nadvirna Church.

👶🏼Seven families live in the camp, including about 20 children. During the visit, a Bible lesson about the prophet Jonah was held for the children. Together, we talked about God’s love, obedience to the Lord, and the importance of trusting Him under any circumstances. The children listened to the Bible story with interest and actively participated in the discussion.

🍒Each family also received food packages. The people expressed their sincere gratitude for the attention, support, and care. For many of them, this visit was not only a source of material assistance but also a reminder that God cares for every person.

🙏We extend special thanks to the missionaries from the United States—Anthony Parker, his wife Maureen, and Jan Barchuk—who joined this trip and helped organize support for the Roma families. Their dedication to ministry and their desire to share God’s love have been a blessing to many people.

A translation of the book “The Life of Jesus Christ” into the Servickyj and Lovarskyj dialects of the Roma language

🙏After much hard work, prayer, and collaboration, we have finally received a translation of the book “The Life of Jesus Christ” into the Servickyj and Lovarskyj dialects of the Roma language.

📖This is an important step in spreading the Gospel among the Roma people, as now even more people will have the opportunity to read about the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in their native language. When a person hears or reads God’s Word in a language that speaks to their heart, it takes on special meaning and power.

😊We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this work: translators, editors, partners, ministers, and everyone who supported this project through prayer and resources. Your work will be a blessing to many Roma families and communities.

💞Our PBU team continues to work to ensure that the Gospel reaches the various peoples and language groups of Ukraine. We believe that these books will help many people come to know the Lord more intimately, grow stronger in their faith, and find hope in Jesus Christ.

This day has finally come!

💫After a long period of preparation, training, spiritual growth, practical ministry, and raising the necessary financial support, we witnessed a special event—the blessing of our missionary for her ministry in Central Asia.

🙏Together with the church, we prayed for her upcoming mission and sent her out to minister to people who have not yet had the opportunity to hear the Good News. It was symbolic that the blessing ceremony took place within the walls of the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary—the educational institution our missionary graduated from and which played a vital role in her preparation for this calling.

🤝Our dear partners also joined us for this event. Together with Anthony Parker, Director of Global Mobilization, and Pastor Oleg Pastukh, we offered a joint prayer, asking for God’s blessing, wisdom, protection, and strength for her future ministry.

🌏We sincerely believe that the Lord will use this mission to spread the Gospel among the peoples of Central Asia. One of our prayers and visions is to launch a Bible translation project in this region for one of the unreached peoples, so that people can read God’s Word in their native language.

☺️Thank you to everyone who prayed, supported, taught, gave, and was part of this journey. This is the joint fruit of God’s work and the work of the entire church community.

💞Let us pray for our missionary, for the peoples of Central Asia, and that the Lord will continue to raise up people in Ukraine who are ready to respond to His call. May He bless our country so that we may send even more missionaries to the peoples who need to hear the gospel of Christ.

💫From July 6 to 9, an extremely important and intensive training session for our staff and future missionaries took place in Krakow. The course was entirely devoted to tactical medicine, first aid, and comprehensive safety in crisis situations.

🤝Unfortunately, the modern world is full of unpredictable threats. Various dangerous situations can happen to anyone, no matter where we are. That is why our main task is to do everything possible to ensure that missionaries are safe, clearly know how to act during a crisis, and are able to protect themselves and those around them. Only under these conditions will their future ministry be as effective and sustainable as possible and bear good fruit.

💫The training program was adapted to meet the most current challenges and included 32 hours of theoretical and practical training in the following key areas:

• First aid and tactical medicine, including the specialized STOP THE BLEED course (certified by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons), where participants practiced skills for stopping life-threatening bleeding.

• Medicine in remote areas—basic life-support skills in situations where there is no immediate access to medical care.

• Mine safety—identifying explosive devices and rules of conduct in mined areas.

• Countering modern technological threats — tactics for evading unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones)

• Personal safety and psychological resilience — risk analysis, planning, information security, behavior during a terrorist threat or interrogation, stress management, trauma recovery, and self-help.

🤗The training was conducted by experienced, certified international instructors who specialize in preparing people to operate in crisis environments. A total of nine people—our staff members and recruits—participated in the course. The knowledge and practical skills gained are an extremely valuable contribution to the team’s safety and the effectiveness of future mission trips.

📖Today, we continue to recruit new missionaries and gladly invite anyone who feels God’s calling to join our training program. We are ready to provide high-quality training, comprehensive support, and help develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and character for effective ministry among the unreached peoples of the world. Our goal is to train missionaries who will be not only spiritually mature but also professionally prepared for the realities of modern missions.💫💫
