An unusual day at the New Jerusalem Church

On August 6, a special event took place in one of Kharkiv’s religious communities: the presentation of Greg Pruett’s book Extraordinary Hearing, hosted by Ivan Slobodian and Dmitry Baurda. It would seem nothing unusual, but this time everything was different!

🧡This is a Roma, Russian-speaking church, as is often the case in eastern Ukraine. But the Roma were not just interested in the book, they accepted it as a real textbook and even read it in Ukrainian, which is very rare for this ethnic group, which usually reads very little.

🩶Right at the beginning of our acquaintance, they asked for more copies — and that was extremely pleasant! Because when there is a passion for God, it changes entire communities.

🧡That day, we spent time at the table as one friendly family, reading “Extraordinary Hearing.” Everyone loved it!

🩶This time, we watched a film about Jesus in the Servite language, had a discussion, and answered questions.

We also distributed books for Roma in the Servite language:

– The Gospel of John

– The Book of Genesis

– The Books of Ruth and Jonah

🧡Church members are already planning their next meetings: they will watch a film about Jesus, discuss what they have seen, and read the book together again. This is a new, warm format of ministry that everyone has come to love.

Seeing how God’s love and Word unite people of different cultures and languages is a real miracle! 💒
