The Roma left India more than 1000 years ago and over the centuries have settled all over the world. Now they number up to 10 million. About 15 ethnic groups of Roma live in Ukraine. The most numerous among them are the Servians, Vlachs, Lovars, Krym, Transcarpathian Roma and others.
According to the latest census, almost 48 thousand Roma live in Ukraine (less than 1% of the total population), but the leaders of Roma communities themselves call the numbers from 200 to 400 thousand, as also reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova. Mostly representatives of the Roma nationality live in Zakarpattia, Odesa and Donetsk regions and in Crimea.
We are translating the Scriptures into six dialects. Currently, the books of Luke, John, Acts of the Apostles, Genesis, Ruth, and Jonah have been printed. For children, we have printed My First Bible and The Life of Jesus Christ in Pictures. Work is continuing on the translation of several books from the Old and New Testaments and other literature.
In addition, in cooperation with churches and other organizations, we are implementing humanitarian, medical, and educational projects.
The impact of the Word of God over the years has shown a positive change in the Roma people. Thousands of lives have been changed for the better and saved, and this process is still ongoing.
